Scope note: Europe has no single unified per-country figure; the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy each follow their own association scopes (BEVH/FEVAD/CNMC/NETCOMM), and 'goods sales' vs 'total incl. services' differ by hundreds of billions. The table aligns to a goods/B2C scope where possible and flags vintage per row. EuroCommerce’s Europe total (€819B in the 2024 report scope used here; an alternative cited figure is €842B) is not the sum of those five association series. The UK cell is online retail (~£1,200bn, 2025) at about 36% penetration — the highest online share in the glance table. Germany’s HDE goods figure (€83.1B, with an HDE total of €92.4B depending on vintage) is goods-first. France publishes both goods (€76.1B) and a wider total (€196.4B). Read columns as Country, GMV, Online Share, Digital Buyers and Growth; an em dash in digital buyers means the association table did not publish a comparable count.

Amazon is the pan-European full-range marketplace plus Prime and FBA. European GMV is about $232B — roughly the sum of ranks 2–10 — and it is #1 in the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, with 127k+ European SMBs. Pan-EU FBA stock sits in a subset of France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland (enable storage in at least two), which is why fulfilment policy belongs on this market map rather than only on a seller-fee page. The UK is outside that inventory pool.

Zalando is Europe’s leading fashion marketplace (29 countries, 7,000+ brands), with GMV €17.6B (+14.7%) and 62 million active customers after the ABOUT YOU acquisition. It is a marketplace-plus-logistics model (own network plus ZEOS for B2B partners), not a SaaS storefront. The Erfurt centre closure in 2026 (~2,700 roles) is a network reshape, not an exit from Germany.

Allegro is the largest European-founded marketplace, Poland-centric (GMV PLN 69.2B, about €16B, +9.1%; 20.4 million buyers) with a locker network that is the CEE counterpart to Amazon lockers — not a fashion specialist. Smart! free delivery across Poland and ~41% of Q4 parcels via lockers are last-mile facts for this atlas.

Vinted is Europe’s leading C2C second-hand fashion marketplace (GMV €10.8B, +47%; 2025 secondary-market valuation €8B). Shopify appears in European merchant stacks but is not a ranked marketplace cluster page here; treat it as infrastructure, not a Top-5 GMV peer.

Temu matches Amazon on European cross-border share (~24% each) with EU 2024 revenue about $1.7B (+124%) and EU MAU 115.7M+. After the 2026 parcel duty, its direct-mail model is the variable this atlas tracks in structure and fulfilment, not a second ranking study. AliExpress (ECDB #4, Local+ in 2025) sits in the same localisation story.

Warehouse and Fulfillment in Europe

Core conclusion: European fulfilment is not 'one warehouse for all of Europe' — it concentrates in a few countries along 'large market + strong ports + strong trunk lines + high fulfilment density'. Amazon Pan-European FBA core inventory countries are France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland; sellers must enable FBA storage in at least two of them, one inventory pool across those countries, and multi-country VAT registration paired with OSS filing. The UK is outside that pool. Zalando runs its own pan-European network (reshaping after ABOUT YOU, closing the German Erfurt centre in 2026). Allegro’s One Box locker network (16K+ APMs) and Vinted Go pickup points are last-mile density, not a second FBA clone. Cost, return rate and large-item fit in the seven-country matrix are industry estimates, not official disclosures.

Section 4 stays a summary. The full network and policy map — Amazon FBA, Zalando Logistics, 3PL, VAT and the Germany / UK / Netherlands / Poland hubs — is warehouse and fulfilment for ecommerce in Europe.
