Middle East Ecommerce Market: Platforms, Growth and Fulfillment

This is the Middle East ecommerce market hub: platforms, growth and fulfilment for the GCC and Egypt, with Africa kept in the wider MEA notes. It consolidates marketplace, payments and logistics facts from region pages, platform pages and research notes into one panorama. GCC ecommerce is a Noon–Amazon duopoly on incomplete disclosure; Egypt and the rest of the region use different definitions of GMV. Country conflicts are flagged inline. Use this page for the GCC and Egypt market map; use the LATAM–MEA Top-5 and MEA findings notes for ranked lists and Africa last-mile. Dubai is the regional distribution hub; Saudi Arabia is the largest consumer market; Turkey is the largest MEA transaction market including services. All figures come from existing research and public 2025–2026 sources; nothing is invented. Noon and Amazon.ae/.sa GMV are not disclosed — do not invent a ranked GMV table for the Gulf.

1 · Middle East Ecommerce Market at a Glance

Definition note: the Middle East has no single unified data source, and country definitions vary widely (B2C goods vs total incl. travel/services; official vs market research). Each row is labelled with vintage; conflicting figures are shown side by side. The glance columns are Country, GMV, Online Share, Digital Buyers and Growth — the same shape as the Europe atlas, so the two hubs can be compared without implying the figures are additive. Middle East B2C is projected to exceed $202B by 2029 (Research and Markets, Jan 2026); MEA combined to exceed $338B by 2031 at 13.85% CAGR (2026–2031). Those forward totals are research-house scopes, not the sum of UAE + Saudi + Egypt + Turkey association tables. UAE 2024 ecommerce is $8.8B in the EZDubai 5th report. Noon and Amazon.ae/.sa still do not disclose GMV; Gulf ranking on this page is qualitative plus funding and valuation signals.

Noon is the UAE-headquartered Gulf marketplace (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt). GMV is never disclosed; the Dec 2025 PIF-led $500M round and a reported ~$10B valuation (dual listing planned) are the public scale signals. Treat it as marketplace plus FBN / noon express fulfilment, not as a ranked GMV peer of Amazon.com. Fees and seller mechanics live on the Noon platform page; this atlas states the market role.

Amazon.ae / Amazon.sa is the other half of the Gulf duopoly (ex-Souq). Country GMV is folded into Amazon International. This atlas states the market role — Prime logistics, electronics and general merchandise — while merchant fees live on the Amazon platform page. Chinese cross-border sellers treating Amazon.ae as a 2025 expansion market is a demand signal, not a GMV rank.

Jumia is pan-African (FY2025 revenue $188.9m, +13%; Q4 +34%; exited Algeria to focus on core markets) and is listed here because the MEA Top-5 study sits next to this pillar — not because Jumia is a GCC marketplace. Africa last-mile and mobile money stay on the MEA findings note. Do not read Jumia’s related-card link to this atlas as a claim that Jumia is a Gulf platform.

Trendyol is Turkey’s super-app (~$14B turnover, ~40% of Turkish ecommerce on a secondary estimate, vintage unclear) expanding into MENA and Europe. SHEIN and Temu appear as 2–3 sentences of cross-border pressure (Temu sea-shipping + PUDO in the UAE; DHL partnership), not as standalone cluster pages. Trendyol GO last-mile was majority-sold by Alibaba in Dec 2025.

3 · Cross-border & payments structure

4 · Warehousing, logistics & fulfilment

Core conclusion: Middle East fulfilment depends heavily on Dubai (UAE) as the regional distribution + Gulf hub, with Saudi/Egypt as local consumption warehouses; Africa is constrained by last-mile and payments infrastructure. Noon express / noon fresh / noon pay is in-house fulfilment (express, grocery, fintech) for the regional champion — vertical integration, not a disclosed GMV. Amazon.ae/.sa leverage Prime logistics, strong in electronics and general merchandise. Trendyol GO is the Turkey last-mile unit (Alibaba sold 85% in Dec 2025 for about RMB5bn). Temu plus EMX/DHL is the Gulf localisation of cross-border low-price. Qatar last-mile cost outside Doha is a documented expansion bottleneck. This atlas keeps fulfilment as a summary on the market map; a dedicated Middle East warehouse spoke is not created in this pass.
